The main way that the camp has made improvements to our facilities over the years has been through people just like you who have taken the opportunity to "adopt" special projects. Take a look at some of the examples taken from the past 12 months alone:
-New Gazebo funded and built by Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, NM
-Log siding for the bath house and new sidewalks to the bishop cabins funded and built by Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo, TX
-New Bridge built over 3rd creek crossing built by college age students from Amarillo College and Eastern New Mexico State University.
-New Generator purchased for dining hall funded primarily by gifts from Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo, TX and Covenant Christian Church in Rio Rancho, NM.
-Remodeled Missionary Cabin bathroom funded by individual family from First Christian Church in Albuquerque, NM.
And that is only the past 12 months!
Here is a list of current projects that YOU, YOUR SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS, YOUR CHURCH, YOUR FAMILY, etc. can adopt and help make a reality. If you can help, please contact us and let us know!
New Disc Golf Course. We would like to replace our current frisbee golf course with an 18 hole course that uses real disc golf baskets and retire the current course which utilizes tires. Each hole would have a concrete launch pad and a sign showing the lay out of that hole. The disc golf course would come at a cost of $3000.
More Gazeebo Type Shelters. The camp could use a few more small open air structures for class times and small groups. For $2000 each, we can add more of these around camp to be used for years and years to come!
All Terrian Vehicle. The camp is in need of a Gator or Mule type 4x4 utility vehicle to use around camp. It should have a bed for carrying gear and 4 wheel drive is a necessity. Cost will be $7500+.
New Office Building. The camp is currently utilizing a portion of the old chow hall as an office. This will be sufficient for a few years but eventually this building will need to be abandoned. For $30,000 a new office building can be built and would be located near the gate to welcome all arrivals. It would consist of 2 private offices for the camp director and the facilities director, a large greeting room with a secretary/receptionist desk, and a 3rd private office for deans to use during their week of camp. The upstairs would contain a studio style appartment which could house summer staff or camp deans with their families. Click here to see the floor plan as it is currently being proposed.
