Take a look at our new bridge spanning 40' over El Porvenir Creek.  This is the second bridge that we have built this year!  A big thank you goes out to Benny Jones from Missouri who helped us design and build it. 

In a lot of ways it represents what we are all about here at EPCC.

First of all, it helps us bridge a gap on the journey.  So many of us have experienced the cold feet associated with a mountain stream crossing on El Porvenir Creek!!!  And all of us know that if your going very far, dry feet are very important.  In the same way, we exist to help Christians along in their journey.  We are a temporary lift above the damp and cold of this world and we carry hearts closer to Jesus Christ.  You can't stay on the bridge forever.  But it is always a bright spot to everyone who travels through.

Second of all, the bridge was built with close attention to detail.  Benny is one of those guys who doesn't want to neglect any small details.  I can still see him chiseling the last corners on the hand rails and running his fingers along the wood edges.  At EPCC, we don't want to be just another camp.  We believe that if you are going to do something, you should do it the best way that you can.  And you can see that attitude around this place.

And finally, the bridge was built to last.  Much work was done to ensure that the foundation for the bridge wouldn't wash out over the years.  The bridge is located high above the water to keep flash floods from wiping it out.  The lumber is pressure treated to prevent the elements from breaking it down.  In the end, only God knows how long it will last, but we built it to stay for many years to come.  In the same way, EPCC has been around for over 50 years now and we are rolling with as big a head of steam as ever!  The next fifty years had better look out!!!  May God receive the glory!
